The 2012 Wrap-Up

Hope everyone's holidays were more enjoyable than mine. Ha. Yeah, I got sick two days before Christmas. Like, seriously...S.I.C.K. It was miserable. But I was better a few days later, which seemed like an eternity and all is back to normal and well now.

Somewhere in blog land I found a post similar to the one you're about to read with questions that help sum up my 2012 year in review. I thought it looked like fun and decided to give it a whirlydoo.

1. What did you do in 2012 that you've never done before?
I packed my bags and took a week-long Winter vacay in GORGEOUS Maui, Hawaii. Pure. Perfection.
2. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Yes!! One of my best friends, Angela and her hubs welcomed sweet Anna in March!! Perfect timing too, because I think she's going to make a cute little flower girl in September!
3. Did anyone close to you die?
Unfortunately it seemed like we lost several distant family members and church family members this year. The closest death in the family was the passing of my Uncle Robert in the Summer. He suffered for several years with Alzheimer's. It's hard to see a person's mind fade away, but I will always remember him for his humor and kind, warm heart. The man never met a stranger.

4. What dates from 2012 will remain etched in your memory & why?
Three come to mind very very quickly.
May 12th, the day my "little" cousin Sarah married her best friend in the most perfect wedding I've ever seen. (Click here, here & here for all the goods from this day!)
August 17th, the day we introduced my grandpa to one of the greatest Atlanta Braves players of all time, David Justice.

November 16th, the day that changed my life.

5. Did you suffer any illness or injury?
Luckily nothing more than your regular cold and worst stomach virus ever with the worst timing ever. Other than that, healthy as can be!

6. What is the best thing you bought yourself in 2012?
Hands down, my iPhone. Game changer. Hands down.

7. Where did most of your money go?
More than likely the same place where the rest of America's money went...food & gas.

8. What song will always remind you of 2012?
Easy.
This one...see the entire blog post I devoted to it back in May. You are welcome.

9. What do you wish you had done more of / less of?
Definitely wish I would've spent MUCH more time with my family friends and NOT kept such a jam-packed calendar this year. I love these people oh so very much!!

10. What was your favorite TV program?
Well, it should ask favorite TV programS...plural. This year I was wrapped up in...
Scandal
 Dallas
and my favorite BY far...these guys...

11. What was the best book you read this year?
I'll narrow it down to two, Tim Tebow's book & Brad Paisley's book. Both great guys. Both great reads.

12. What was your favorite movie this year?
This one was hard because it would include having to remember all the movies we've seen. But the one that sticks out the most is the latest Bond installment, Skyfall

13. What did you do on your birthday & how old were you?
This year I turned my forever age. I will now be 29 forever. OK? We kept celebrations pretty low-key in the middle of a busy August with a simple dinner & fabulous cake (even if the name was misspelled).

14. Did you travel anywhere this year?
Well, if you've made it through this post this far you know I went to Hawaii in January / February. Save your money and plan a trip like this for yourself very very soon!

We also had a few other quick weekend trips in the Summer. We went to Fort Benning, Georgia a couple of times for S's brother's break & then graduation from Infantry School.
Then we hit Gatlinburg for a family weekend. We had so much fun together. Including many many photos at a new wax museum. You must go....annnnnd take your camera.

And we started October with a trip to Disney World!

15. What national event stirred you the most?
I chose to look at this 2 ways. Which event stirred me the most in a negative and positive way. I think it goes without saying that the tragedy at Sandy Hook School shook our nation as a whole. Such devastation and sadness. Our comfort comes from knowing that those precious, precious children are safe in the arms of God now and will never know or experience pain, hurt or fear. They will forever know unconditional love and pure joy.
On the positive side of national events, I really enjoyed the Summer Olympics in London this year. I think we watched them every night for two weeks. True story.

16. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2012?
I think this past year, more than ever before, I have learned to be thankful and appreciative for all that I have. Big and small. Everything matters.

I'm thankful for my daily life and daily routines, I'm thankful for the people in my life...my family, friends, church family, co-workers, the future hubs, my future in-laws and their families, I'm thankful for laughter and moments that make me laugh so hard I can't breathe, I'm thankful for my home, I'm thankful for all the opportunities that have come my way this year, I' m thankful for forgiveness and second chances, I'm thankful for modern technology and the luxuries they provide...not necessities, luxuries, I'm thankful to finally be marrying "the one" and I'm so so very thankful for the life that lies ahead for us together.

So there ya have it, my 2012, all in one handy-dandy blog post! So excited to dive into 2013 and soak it all up! It's going to be a GREAT year!!!!!
