In case you've been living under a rock, the chevron pattern is all the rage these days, and I must say, I am on board the chevron train!
It doesn't help my addiction that there's chevron "stuff" all over Pinterest...some of my favorite chevron pins..
Annnnywaaayss. you get the idea.
A couple weeks ago, I was sent a picture of a monogrammed coffee cup sleeve and was asked to match it. It had gray and white chevron as the background with a big pink circle in the center and white monogram.
How stinkin' cute, right?!!! My goodness. I'm just in love.
Back in August, the hospital I work at hosts a two-day Golf Tournament that raises money for different funds through the CRMC Foundation. I was fortunate enough to "work" the tournament both days again this year. It's a tough gig sometimes, but duty calls.
Girls just wanna have fun!
Golfers play one round of 18 holes on Thursday, then that night is the big Celebrity Dinner. These are by far some of the hottest tickets in town.
This year's celebrity was former Major League Baseball player, David Justice, who spent the majority of his career as an Atlanta Brave. The man's decently tall.
His speech at the dinner was really great. His playing days may be over, but he's got awesome stories to share from on and off the field. As he puts it, if his "famous" name can draw people in to raise money for worthy causes, that's his calling in this stage of his life now.
Me and my friend Amanda. Love her.
Can't stay out and party too late, because we're all back out on the links early the next morning. 6am to be exact. Two rounds of 18 hole golf is open on Friday. Our tournament is getting quite a name for itself as being one of the premier tournaments in the state. Not to sound TOO full of myself, we do put on a pretty good show.
Getting the early golfers registered. In two days there were roughly 400 golfers signed up to play.
One of the advantages Friday golfers have is meeting the celebrity who spends a good portion of the day out of the course with the players just hanging out, signing autographs, taking pictures, and even taking some swings with them.
I can't say enough good things about this guy. He's so sweet and kind and welcoming. Annnnd...pretty easy on the eyes too. He just made us swoon.
Mindy & I with Dave.
News Channel 5 always has a team that plays and they're super nice guys too. I got the opportunity to first meet them last year and was thrilled to see them again this year, including my favorite morning man, Steve Hayslip. (green shirt...last's year's tournament shirt actually).
The Channel 5 guys had a big time with Dave. Yeah, I just called him Dave. We're pretty much friends for life now.
I'm not sure exactly what was going on, but it almost seemed like an interview being recorded.
Barb, Amy, Amanda & I with the Channel 5 crew.
Then the GREATEST moment of the day happened. My grandpa is a tried and true Atlanta Braves fan. During the highs, the lows, winning years, rotten years...Pa just loves his Braves. He doesn't miss a game. So my aunt and I had an idea to surprise Pa by bringing him and my grandmother out to the course to meet David Justice. My aunt brought them out without telling my grandpa who was going to see. We walked him down to where Dave was and asked him, "does that guy in the black hat look familiar?" He said, "Well.....I reckon that's David Justice!" The following pictures capture the moments that I will hold forever in my heart as being some of my favorite lifetime memories.
This was the 10th anniversary of the tournament, and only my 2nd. With wonderful memories like this, it will be HARD to beat this year!
Thank You, David Justice, for making my grandpa smile for days on end! I will never be able to repay for that moment and this memory.
I know I've told you all the story (several times) about how I started college as a Nursing major, made it half way through my Junior year and realized, wait...I don't want to be a nurse. So I changed majors, blah blah blah.
But while in Nursing I made the GREATEST group of friends a girl could ever ask for, whom I just love dearly. One being Marcie, who tells the greatest stories and has two super cute little girls.
Anyways, I digress.
Marcie ordered this sign for her sister's birthday. That's the point of this story.
Obviously, her sister is a teacher and this sign is meant for the classroom.
She wanted it to match her school colors and include a paw print.
I'm in love with Pinterest. Yeah? You too, huh? I love it more than Facebook. Don't get me wrong....I still get the majority of my gossip from FB, but Pinterest just grabs my attention more these days.
When I logged in last weekI realized that I was a mere ONE SINGULAR pin away from having 200 on my "Recipes" Board. Is that sad? Or rather something to be mildly amused by? It amused me, so go with me.
I decided to do a blog of the recipes I've tried from Pinterest..the winners AND the losers.
Let's start with this fresh apple cake. SUPER DUPER easy (that's reason #1 why I love Pinterest) and pretty tasty. I made this just a couple of weeks ago to take to a church fish fry (true sign of being a Southerner if I do say so myself) and it went over pretty well. I give this one a solid A.
Next is the one pan, chicken, potatoes, green beans contraption. You arrange your pan like this, sprinkle a packet of dry Italian dressing mix over it and bake it. Well, I didn't have a packet of Italian on hand but I did have Ranch, so I figured, eh, can't screw it up that much. It turned out ok. I forget how long the original pin said to bake it, but it was NOWHERE NEAR being done following the directions. It took like an additional 30 minutes. Ease factor, it's great. Taste, eh, it was ok. I'll definitely try Italian next time. I give it a B-.
Then there's the red velvet cheesecake swirl brownies. A+. That says it all.
The Oreo Pudding Poke Cake. My sister tried this first...said it was AMAZINGLY wonderful. I tried it and I messed it up. I let the pudding set and get like a pudding should, instead of pouring it right on the cake as soon as I mixed it up. Big mistake. My fault. Had I not done that, it'd get some sort of A. (Just based on my sister's try at it.)
Peanut Butter Banana Oatmeal Bars. I figure...this has got to be a great breakfast option. WRONG. Yuck. Awful. F.
Coconut Cream Cake. Easy & Delicious!! The hardest part of this recipe was finding a can of Cream of Coconut at Kroger. Luckily S's dad is the store manager at our local Kroger. After wandering the store about 10 minutes looking for the blasted thing, I broke down and sent him a text. Literally 27 seconds later, he's walking towards me holding out a can of Cream of Coconut. He's a good man. I give this an A+. (P.S. Cream of Coconut can be found in the aisle that has all the alcoholic mixed drink ingredients.)
The Pioneer Woman's Cuppa Cuppa Cuppa Cake. This was my VERY FIRST pin EVER. It holds a special place in my heart. It's easy & so good. A great go to recipe when you need to whip something up from things you have in your pantry. A+. I heart P-Dub!
The dessert that makes us feel like fat kids....a layer of chocolate chip cookie dough, a layer of Oreos, and a layer of brownie batter. Bake it and ohmiwordinheaven. There just aren't enough words to describe how sinfully wonderful this thing is. I made this during of last Christmas's many get togethers and it was a crowd pleaser!! A+++
Overnight Oatmeal....it's easy and it's a great grab it and go breakfast option. However, it takes a little bit to get used to the cold oatmeal taste. Once you do (if you do) you're good to go. I'd recommend it. It's a solid B.
Lemon Bars made with an Angel Food Cake Mix. Easy....but not AS tasty as I had imagined. I'd say it deserves a C+. I'll probably give it another whirl one day and see if bake time affects it.
So that's it...my favorite and eh, not so favorite Pinterest recipe finds.
And what pin made #200???
This Mexican Cornbread Salad!
I'll try it...someday, and let you know how it goes. What have been some of your favorite Pinterest Recipes that you've tried? Let me know!

Fast forward through months of tears, grief, prayers and fertility medications, we joyfully welcomed our twin daughters, Amelia and Mae Parker on October 2, 2016!
I have a job that I genuinely enjoy and look forward to every day. It is rewarding and I feel like I make a difference in people’s lives.
