Today was Good...Today was Fun...

I love Dr. Seuss books. I love their gentle words of insight that provide a powerful punch of wisdom. I love their quirkieness. I love their whimsy.

Recently I found this treasure on wherelese, but Pinterest! So great!!

So where is this Suess-esque blog post going? Recently, I received another great honor to paint a piece of my choosing for donation to the Silent Auction at the upcoming Pink Ribbon of Hope Gala. Click here to find out more about this great fundraiser for women of the Upper Cumberland.

The Pink Ribbon of Hope Gala

When opportunities present themselves and I get to paint ANYTHING I want without it having a family's last name on it or a baby's name, I look to great quotes, Bible verses, song lyrics, etc for my inspiration. This time I took to Dr. Seuss!

Before any words were painted on this one the following conversation played out between me and Stephen one night.

S: "It looks like the Lorax."
Me: "What?"
S: "You  know, the Lorax...trees...Dr. Seuss."
Me: "Yes, I know what the Lorax is, but they're not trees."
S: "Oh."
Me: "But you thought Dr. Seuss? Really!!?"
S: "Yeah."
Me: "You just made my day! you even like Dr. Seuss stuff?"
S: "I guess."

The End.

I hope whoever goes home with this on April 14th (which is S's birthday by the way) will enjoy it as much as I did making it!!

Ellie Mae Bowen with her version of "Holding Out for a Hero"...yes, I'm still on a Footloose kick.

Leaving you with a bit more Seuss wisdom on this pretty Monday!

This Week on Pinterest!

Time to link up again with Michelle at the Vintage Apple for some great Pin finds this week!

Don't tell me you didn't used to sing it like this and never heard what you were saying!

And just now you sang it to yourself or possibly out loud.

I have a small Krispy Kreme addiction, so it's really good there's not one in my town, but check out this too cute Krispy Kreme themed birthday party!

This easy recipe sounds great for Summer popsicles!! Pineapple, Coconut, Banana & Vanilla...Um, yes please!!

I created a new Pin Board, titled, "Because someday I might be someone's mother,"  just for this find! Lame. But how stinkin' cute is this!!!!!

Love this idea for life-changing dates in your life. Great craft, great decor, great gift idea!

Hop on over to the Vintage Apple to see more great finds!! Have a lovely day!

Hippity Hop Into Spring Paint Party...Vol. 1

With Spring knocking on the door over the weekend, it was a perfect time to host A Spring Paint Party!

For this season, I chose 4 designs and painted 3 of them up for samples. However, as you will be seeing, the possibilities are endless when you give a paintbrush to a room full of creative minds!

I chose not to personalize the basket below. The ones who painted the basket put their last name on it or "Happy Easter" above it.

Time to get our paint on!!

I love when younger girls come to paint!! They just jump right in and have the best time!

Isn't this the pretties pallett of colors??!

Oh, and Saturday was also St. Patrick's Day so I threw in a little St. Patty's day decor for some added spice!

This girl has the steadiest hand I've ever seen! Look at the detail she's free-handed!

Some more of the younger girls' work!

And this is pretty little Raeleigh Jo! We started talking about Pinterest and how her mom, Samantha wanted to write "Happy 1st Easter" on her canvas. Then great minds started thinking alike and the next thing ya know.....

...We were slapping paint on that baby's feet! Gotta love Pinterest!

One foot to go.

Clean up time! She did soooo good!! And look how cute the canvas was turning out!

Working towards their finished products!

My pretty family! My Aunt Samantha and Cousin, Ann Marie! (Happy Birthday Samantha!)

The Rich girls! You might remember them from last Easter here & here, or Christmas here, or Christmas here, or here! (And I'm sure I've missed a few along the way. Safe to say, these girls are probably my best customers!)

We had a great, relaxing girls day Saturday!!

Thank you all from the bottom of my heart, who came out and joined us! Your interest in my "little hobby" is the fuel behind me doing all of this. Can't wait for our Summer Series!

If you're new to my blog and live in the area and are interested in hosting a Paint Party, feel free to email me at I've got one more booked for March, one April Birthday Paint Party & two July Birthday Paint Parties! Also, start thinking about all those Summer weddings coming up. A custom canvas would make a great wedding or shower gift!

Today is the first "official" day of Spring! Enjoy!!

March Madness Catch Up...Basketball Not Included

March has been a busy month so far. April will be a busy month. May will be a busy month. There are so many events coming up that I am over the moon excited about! I can't wait to share them all with you, but for's what's been happening in March!

First, we celebrated Mom's birthday! Dad had this oh so too pretty to eat cake made for her. (FYI...she loves hats!)

Spring sprung early. The trees are in full  bloom and most flowers are too. We've had GORGEOUS weather this month. (minus the storms and tornadoes on March 2nd.)

I'm still pretty crazy about this one....

I've decided that I love it.

I cooked dinner for S's parents. This is the first time that I've ever cooked a meal and invited "in-laws" over. WATCH OUT! Anyways, S has this bad habit when he comes in the door to go through my cabinets, fridge, etc looking for food or drink. Knowing good and well that he would take the lid off of the crock pot...I had to resort to more extreme measures.

One afternoon, Stephen and I took the boys to play mini golf. We had a great time with them!

Then we came back home with them and Riley played football on the Kinect.

Colin sucker-punched Riley in the back just because it was a Saturday, then took off running and laughing as seen below.

We thought this joker miiiiiight take a nap. Thought being the operative word.

We loaded them back up in the car and headed to meet my sis and BIL to give them back their responsibility. 2 minutes into the carride, I turned around to find this....

Annnnd....this beauty.

I think it's safe to say we wore them out.

I struck an incredible deal on strawberries. Exciting news for you I know!! I got these two flats for $13 and some change. No, they're not all for me...most were for S's mom and grandma. I picked these up for them while I was in town. I know, I know....whipped.

So I took my share of the strawberries and made a quick and easy trifle for a chruch dinner. That sucker was GONE. I came home with a sparkling, clean bowl and that was ALL.

Oh, and we briefly thought this guy might stand a shot at coming back to Tennessee. But it doesn't look that way now. From Knoxville, to Indianapolis to what looks to be Denver. Think about this one long and hard Peyton...we'd love to have you back!!!

And besides, if you go to Denver, Mr. Manning...what happens to Mr. Tebow?? He's done so well there, I just hate to see him move from a position he's earned. But I'm fairly confident he'll get a pretty great deal wherever he goes.

That's it for March so far! Check back tomorrow for a complete wrap up from the first Spring Paint Party!!

Leaving you with a little Jazon Mraz on this BEAUTIFUL Monday!
